    1. Product Introduction

The Mini Sensor II has been designed as an electric bicycle pedal assist sensor (PAS). It can be rapidly installed onto a bike and features a bi-directional 24 pulse signal. Unlike the traditional disk and sensor type of PAS, the Mini Sensor II has all components integrated; magnets are situated concentrically to the bearing with multiple halls featured in the assembly. This lends the Mini Sensor II a very low profile being only a single part that is almost completely obscured by the crank assembly and makes installation as simple as sliding it onto the axle.

With a thickness of 5.7mm, the Mini Sensor II is suitable for standard square taper axle electric bikes that have a hub motor. As the assembly is thinner the magnets are closer to the Hall sensors which result in a power signal with greater stability. Also included is an LED indicator for troubleshooting.

While rotating forward the sensor outputs a high-voltage pulse and the LED will flash each pulse. During reverse rotation a low voltage pulse is output. In this way, the user can check to see that the sensor is correctly installed and operating.

As the pulse count is higher than in traditional disk and sensor assembly the sensitivity is increased dramatically which results in a smoother and more responsive system. Start and stop times are increased and reduced respectively providing a seamless riding experience.

    3. Installation

The standard Mini Sensor II has been designed to be installed on the left side of the bike. Only the left crank needs to be removed and the sensor is slid over the axle. A screw is used to attach the sensor to the bottom bracket to prevent rotation of the sensor and the crank is re-attached to the axle and the installation is complete.

    Note:

    • Provided are two cable management fixtures. These are screwed into place under the bottom bracket and allow the cables to be run between them to both keep cables out of the way and increase the overall ascetics of the bike.
    • The crank screw should not exceed 44mm in diameter.
